What is the Expansion Tank ?

Inside the expansion tank there is a balloon with Nitrogen, when the temperature of the water within the pipes increases, the volume of water increases, and then pressurize the Nitrogen inside the tank and protect the network from explosions and cracks.

When there is a leakage within the network and there is less water , the Nitrogen balloon expands and compensate this water. It is also used in water supply systems to protect pipes from water hammer.
